Abstract

11 slides.-- Presentation delivered within the Hatun Tinkuy Perú 2022 event in Lima, https://hatuntinkuy.concytec.gob.pe/ [EN] The presentation summarises the research evaluation workflows around the Research Excellence Framework (REF), the national-level research assessment exercise in the UK, with an emphasis on its associated Open Access policy. The REF Open Access mandate has actually driven the rates of Open Access availability for research outputs produced at UK universities covered by the REF to the highest percentages worldwide as shown on the results for the CWTS Leiden Open Access ranking for 2022. As recommended by the PASTEUR4OA H2020 project back in 2016, it is argued that such a mandatory policy is exactly what's required for the Green route to Open Access to succeed.
