Е.О. Мухин 22 года руководил кафедрой анатомии, физиологии и судебной медицины Московского Императорского университета. Он преподавал судебную медицину, анатомию, физиологию, токсикологию и медицинскую полицию. Впервые в русской физиологии представил основные положения рефлекторной теории. Наиболее полно для своего времени разработал проблему о единстве и взаимодействии организма и окружающей среды. Е.О.
