Определяется стратегическая цель профильного лингвистического образования в условиях программы 5-100. Рассматривается система непрерывного профильного лингвистического образования. Исследуется роль выпускающей кафедры как основной структурной единицы университета, обеспечивающей подготовку лингвистов-профессионалов в области обучения иностранным языкам, перевода и переводоведения, прикладной лингвистики. Определяются направления развития кафедры, стоящие перед ней проблемы, намечаются пути их решения. The article focuses on the problem of special linguistic education development at the South Ural State University, Russia. The strategic goal of special linguistic education within the framework of 5- 100 Project is mapped out. The system of continuing special linguistic education at the university level is described. The role of the department of linguistics and translation studies as the basic university unit which provides education of professional linguists, teachers of foreign languages, translators, and specialists in applied and mathematical linguistics is investigated. Various trends of the department development, as well as problems facing the department are described. Possible solutions to the problems are outlined.
