The method involves information fed to a technical appliance as a bit sequence being linked so that only one bit sequence is allocated to it. This is fed to a further appliance where the process is inverted to recreate the bit sequences. These can be resolved into packets which can then be processed by technical equipment without changing the total information content. A freely selectable code identifies whether or not the inversion has changed the information content. Independent claims are included for a processing device.
