বাংলাদেশের সাহিত্য তথা বাংলা সাহিত্যের রোমান্টিক কবিতার ধারায় মীর মোহাম্মদ আবদুস শোকুর আল মাহমুদের (১৯৩৬-২০১৯) নাম বিশেষ তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ। পাঁচের দশকের কবি আল মাহমুদের কবিতার একটি বড়ো অংশ জুড়ে উদ্দীপন বিভাব ও আলম্বন বিভাবের যুগপৎ ভূমিকা পালন করেছে নারী। আল মাহমুদের প্রথম কাব্যগ্রন্থ লোক লোকান্তর প্রকাশিত হয় ১৯৬৩ খ্রিস্টাব্দে এবং শেষ কাব্যগ্রন্থ তোমাকে হারিয়ে কুড়িয়ে পেয়েছি প্রকাশিত হয় ২০১৬ খ্রিস্টাব্দে। দীর্ঘ চল্লিশ বছরেরও বেশি সময় ধরে আল মাহমুদ যে সহস্রাধিক কবিতা লিখেছেন নারী ও নারীর প্রতি সপ্রেম কৌতূহল তার অন্যতম বিষয়। এই ধারাবাহিকতায় তাঁর প্রাথমিক পর্বের কবিতা বিশেষ তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ। এই পর্যায়ে তিনি নারীর জৈবিক রহস্যময় সৌন্দর্যের অনুসন্ধান করেছেন কবিতার মধ্য দিয়ে; কখনো ব্যক্তিগত জীবন অভিজ্ঞতাকে কবিতায় তুলে ধরেছেন কোনো আড়াল ছাড়াই; আবার কখনো নারীর মধ্যে আবহমানকালের জন্মদাত্রী মহামাতাকে আবিষ্কার করেছেন। বর্তমান প্রবন্ধে আল মাহমুদের কবিতার প্রাথমিক পর্বের (১৯৬৩-১৯৭৩) প্রথম তিনটি কাব্যগ্রন্থের (লোক লোকান্তর, কালের কলস, সোনালি কাবিন) কবিতায় নারীর ভূমিকা ও নারীপ্রেমের স্বরূপ বিশ্লেষণ করার চেষ্টা করা হবে। Meer Mohammad Abdus Shakur Al Mahmood (1936-2019) occupies a distinct position not only in the literary history of Bangladesh but also in the romantic poetic tradition of Bengali language and literature. A large corpus of Mahmood’s poetry concerns with ‘love’. Al Mahmood published his first volume of poetry, Lok Lokantar, in the year 1963; while his last poetic collection, Tomake Hariye Kuriye Peyechhi was published in 2016. In his long poetic career of forty years Mahmood wrote thousands of poems and interestingly all these poems portray the different dimensions and perceptions of love towards ‘woman’. Mahmood’s poems have sometimes investigated the passionate physical appeal and beauty of a woman and on the other hand, the poet has discovered the image of a universal motherhood in a woman. This article would be concentrating on the first three collections of Mahmood’s poetry (Lok Lokantar, Kaler Kalas, Sonali Kabin), written in the early phase of his poetic career (1963-1973), and would attempt an analysis of the portrayal of women and the very nature of ‘love’ in Mahmood’s writings.
