Corneal contours for the right eyes of five human infants were measured with a portable photokeratoscope. The infant corneal contour has shorter radii but is geometrically similar to the adult cornea. At birth the cornea partially corrects for ocular spherical aberration and thereby contributes to maximum visual acuity.
