ZIGOMICOSE EM EQUINOS – REVISÃO

Abstract

Com o objetivo de se conhecer um pouco mais sobre a Zigomicose, buscou-se oferecer esta revisão aos profissionais. A zigomicose é um complexo de doença piogranulomatosa, constituindo um grupo diverso de afecções micóticas de estreita semelhança anatomopatológica que afeta a pele, o tecido subcutâneo, o trato digestivo e o respiratório especialmente de eqüinos, sendo também observado em: humanos, cães, gatos, ursos e bovinos. Os eqüinos são os mais atingidos e são acometidos nas formas cutânea e subcutânea. Há vários relatos da doença em regiões úmidas do Brasil. A zigomicose é de difícil tratamento tanto em animais como no homem, devido às características do agente, principalmente em função da estrutura de sua parede celular. Dentre várias drogas tradicionais no tratamento da zigomicose saliente-se a anfotericina B, que possui diversos efeitos colaterais. Atualmente tem sido indicada a imunoterapia, demostrando-se bons resultados quando há diagnóstico precoce e correto, associado à limpeza cirúrgica de debris da região afetada. Nesse artigo são abordados os aspectos micológicos, epidemiológicos, clínicos da zigomicose eqüina, assim como as técnicas diagnósticas disponíveis e as perspectivas terapêuticas com vistas ao sucesso desejado e ao bem estar animal.
