Exercícios aquáticos para equilíbrio em pacientes com Síndrome Pós-Poliomielite

Abstract

Objetivo. Descrever os efeitos dos exercícios aquáticos em pacientes cadeirantes com Síndrome Pós-Poliomielite (SPP) para equilíbrio de tronco, dor, e atividades de vida diária. Método. Estudo realizado na piscina aquecida do setor de doenças neuromusculares (UNIFESP/EPM). Foram estudados 02 pacientes com SPP, que realizaram exercícios aquáticos duas vezes por semana, com duração de 45 minutos cada sessão, durante 24 semanas. As avaliações consistiam na Escala de Atividades de vida diária (Barthel), Escala de Equilíbrio (Berg Scale), Escala Visual Analógica (EVA) e mensuração de força muscular pelo Manual Measurement Test (MMT), antes e após o programa de hidroterapia. O protocolo realizado incluiu exercícios para musculatura de tronco, enfatizando os músculos: reto abdominal, oblíquos interno e externo e para-vertebrais. Também foram incluídos exercícios respiratórios, alongamentos musculares e relaxamento. Resultados. Após 24 semanas de treinamento os pacientes apresentaram melhora em: força muscular (grau 4 para 5 em extensão e rotação de tronco), do equilíbrio de tronco (13,4%), atividades de vida diária (transferências, controle vesical e locomoção), (27,7%), e na dor (69,3%). Conclusão. O programa de exercícios aquáticos para treinamento da musculatura de tronco em pacientes com SPP trouxe benefícios para força, diminuição da dor e melhora do equilíbrio de tronco, facilitando as atividades de vida diária
