Semi-microscopic nα-Cluster Model for Light Nuclei

Abstract

A molecular viewpoint of nuclear systems has succeeded in understanding dynamical excitations of light nuclei. The Ikeda diagram [1] schematically shows various kinds of the possible molecule-like structure as appearances of saturating sub-units in α-nuclei. In the diagram, we can see the nα-cluster phase as the upper limit in excitation and the phase of the spatially compact shell-model-like structure near the ground state at the lower limit. Between these two phases various combinations of element clusters are expected to form molecule-like structure.
