The texts, translation, and structure of the fourth Hymn of Proculus. The way in which Proculus qualifies the gods invoked in this Hymn is suited to the gods of the Chaldean Oracles. The Hymn is full of expressions and doctrines which characterise the Chaldean Oracles. It formulates questions which exactly correspond to the promises to be found in the Chaldean Oracles. These convergences indicate that the «gods» addressed by Proculus in the Hymn are those of the Chaldean Oracles. We know that Proculus wanted to address Greek as well as barbarian gods. This devotion to the revelation of the gods of the Chaldean Oracles is what most contrasts Proculus with Plotinus.
