
Female moths began calling at a mean age of 29±11 minutes and mated at the mean age of 59±21 minutes. The average age of earliest mating by males was 214±120 minutes. The mean copulatory period for 129 pairs was 91±51 minutes. Females mated only once while males were polygamous. Females exhibited an afternoon calling rhythm which typically began at noon and ceased at nightfall or soon afterward. The males' response to virgin females reached a peak during midafternoon and ceased at nightfall regardless of whether the females continued to call.
