This section of the book Thyretini of Africa: An Illustrated Catalogue of the Thyretini (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae: Syntominae) of the Afrotropical Region presents a list of taxa excluded from the Thyretini. The genera and species listed here have been included in the Thyretini in the last catalogue (Kiriakoff 1960) or described by Kiriakoff (1953a, 1965) as belonging to this tribe. Examination of the type material revealed that they belong to Arctiinae or Syntominae: Syntomini. The book is the first comprehensive tool facilitating the identification of thyretines - the unique group of large arctiids restricted almost exclusively to the Afrotropical Region. The 194 currently recognized species are catalogued and illustrated in the book. Information on the original descriptions, type locality and type deposition for each of 333 species-group names is given. The diagnostic features of each species and short information on early stages, biology and known distribution are presented.Keywords: Africa; arctiids; Thyretini
