Abstract

This section presents a note on the arrangement of the book Thyretini of Africa: An Illustrated Catalogue of the Thyretini (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae: Syntominae) of the Afrotropical Region. The book presents the following sections: catalogue, descriptions of species, references and plates. In the catalogue section the genus names are listed in alphabetical order. In some cases these are further divided into subgenera. All valid species names are provided with Arabic numerals in the catalogue section. The description of species section provides short information about each species. The most characteristic features separating the taxon from the others are listed. The most important morphological characters are pointed out. Short information about published data concerning developmental stages is provided. All available information on host plants, life cycle, flying period and daily activity are also provided. They are mostly retrieved from the literature but in some cases they relay on personal observations of collectors. Keywords: Africa; Thyretini
