Dellia insulana Stal 1878

Authors: Yong, Sheyla; Perez-Gelabert, Daniel E.;
Abstract

Dellia insulana Stål, 1878 Dellia insulana Stål, 1878: 83; Amédégnato et al., 1995: 694; Perez-Gelabert and Otte, 1999b: 2. Dellia multicolor: Carl, 1916: 512. Holotype male, from Cuba. [NHRS]. Distribution. Cuba. Notes. The area inhabited by D. insulana within Cuba is unclear. Gundlach (1891) indicates that he collected D. insulana in several localities. Bolívar (1888) does not give precise localities. Zayas (1976) suggests the existence of several species belonging to this genus in Cuba but does not mention localities. Indeed we have specimens of several new species of Cuban Dellia and these will be described in a forthcoming paper. Figs. 1 F and 1G show photos of two different probably undescribed species.
