
The first version of the guide provides users with best practices for creating citation metadata in Dataverse. The guide provides definitions of metadata fields and clarification where needed; distinguishes between required, recommended and optional fields; and illustrates the use of each field with an example. Future editions will provide guidance for disciplinary metadata blocks in Dataverse, namely, Social Sciences and Humanities, Geospatial, Life Sciences, and Astronomy & Astrophysics Metadata.
