ATIVIDADES DE CAMPO E CONTEXTUALIZAÇÃO DO PROJETO ARQUEOLÓGICO ALTO CANOAS – PARACA; UM ESTUDO DA PRESENÇA PROTO-JÊ NO PLANALTO CATARINENSE

Abstract

Abstract: The "Alto Canoas Archaeological Project - PARACA, A Study of the Presence of Jé in the Santa Catarina Plateau", is a PhD research developed since 2008 in the Museum of Archeology and Ethnology of the University of São Paulo (MAE-USP). (1) to revise and update the literature previously produced for the region, (2) to create a new regional archaeological map, and (3) to interpret, through archaeobotanical and geodata data, the landscapes of proto-Jê populations in the municipality of Urubici, Santa Catherine. This report will address the first objective of the project, from the succinct presentation of the final results of the field sessions conducted between 2009 and 2011. About 50 years after the first systematic survey, many already known sites finally received information from geographical coordinates, photographic records, maps, environmental descriptions and many others were first reported, thus creating an updated archaeological catalog of the region. In addition, sites are now interpreted from a regional and systemic approach.
