The role of dacryography in the evaluation of the therapeutic effectiveness of topical treatment

Abstract

At present, the ultimate treatment of obstructive epiphora in the majority of cases is surgery. An alternative method to attend the lacrimal disorders is based on the injection of ointment (steroid + antibiotic combination) into the tear duct. The authors believe that this procedure is improved by macrodacryography, which appears as a safe, simple and efficient method to evaluate the lacrimal system before therapy, and to control the improvement of the lacrimal drainage during and following the treatment.
