Abstract

Dust is one of the air pollutants with a high level of toxicity and plays a significant role in the destruction of ambient air. Dust contains solid particles that can cause various respiratory diseases and can pollute the air. Dust will enter human lungs if a person breathes air that prevents dust, especially dust that has a size of 1 to 3 microns which will then stick to the alveoli. This study aims to determine the level of dust in the environment of the anting limestone factory in Makassar. This type of research uses an analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. Samples were taken by purposive sampling as many as 35 samples. The results of the study obtained in the acting lime factory are the work period> 5 years consisting of 28 workers 80%, while <5 years seven workers 20%, duration of work> 8 hours/day 31 workers 31.3%, while <8 hours/day 24 workers 68.6, 22 people good smoking habits 62.9. Poor 13 people 37.1, 100% use masks, 18 (51.4%) workers using hats and 17 (48.6%) workers not using caps, 34 (97.1%) use of gloves %) workers who do not use gloves are 1 (2.9%) workers, use glasses as many as 7 (20%) workers and do not use glasses as many as 28 (80%) workers. And the dust content of point A is good 5,980, while point B is not good at 0.118. The conclusion of this research is the level of dust level of the antang limestone factory in Makassar city at point A area of ​​the production room at the lime factory where the coordinates obtained are S: 05o 09 '37.9 ", E: 119o 29'09.6" while the air temperature is 33o C with 56% humidity while 0.0 meters/sec' wind speed. With a result of 5,980. Whereas at point B area of ​​the combustion chamber in the lime factory where the coordinates obtained are S: 05o 09 '38.1 ", E: 119o 29'13.2" as for the air temperature is 32o C with 51% humidity while the wind speed is 0.0 meters / second ". With a result of 0.118.
