Tonometría de rebote con puntas nuevas y reesterilizadas versus tonometría de aplanación Goldmann en niños

Abstract

Resumen Antecedentes El tonometro de Goldmann (TAG) es el estandar de oro para la medicion de la presion intraocular (PIO). En pacientes pediatricos esta medicion resulta desafiante. El tonometro de rebote (TRB) es un instrumento facil de utilizar. En la Unidad Nacional de Oftalmologia (UNO) se reesterilizan las puntas del TRB (TRB RE). Objetivo Evaluar la correlacion entre el TRB con puntas nuevas y reesterilazadas en comparacion con el TAG. Materiales y metodos Estudio transversal con 25 pacientes sanos entre 8 y 12 anos de edad elegidos al azar, que asistieron a la consulta externa de la UNO durante el 2019. Se les tomo la PIO con el TRB usando puntas reesterilizadas, luego con una punta nueva y, por ultimo, con el TAG. Resultados Existe correlacion entre la PIO tomada con el TAG y la PIO tomada con el TRB (p = 0,0011). No se encontro correlacion entre el TAG y el TRB RE, ni el TRB con el TRB RE. Conclusiones El TRB puede ser utilizado en pacientes pediatricos teniendo en cuenta que habitualmente se sobreestima la PIO con respecto al TAG.
