Herbario COFC de la Universidad de Córdoba: colección histórica

Abstract

La Colección Histórica fue creada por el polifacético religioso José de Jesús Muñoz Capilla (1771-1840), contiene un total de 1614 registros de plantas vasculares (además de 4 registros del alga del género Chara) dispuestas en 22 clases de acuerdo con el sistema linneano (Infante et al., 2002). Entre los recolectores se encuentran además los cordobeses Jesús Muñoz Capilla, Rafael Mariano León y Gálvez (n. 1772-1811), Rafael Entrena y Camacho (n. 1786-1835), y el gaditano Antonio Nicolás Cabrera y Corro (n. 1762-1827). El herbario fue cedido por los familiares de Muñoz Capilla a mediados del siglo XIX a la Escuela Especial de Veterinaria (González Soriano, 1923), institución que más recientemente sería Facultad de Veterinaria y el germen de la actual Universidad de Córdoba. Fue restaurado e inventariado minuciosamente por Jordano & Ocaña (1955, 1957), y ya en la década de los 70, tras la creación de la Universidad de Córdoba, fue cedido a las instalaciones del Herbario COFC. Su importancia radica en su valor histórico y cultural, ya que contiene además plantas y/o anotaciones de importantes botánicos con los que mantuvo contacto (Laza Palacios, 1944), entre ellos Mariano Lagasca (n. 1776-1839), Félix Haenseler (n. 1767-1841) y Edmond Boissier (1810-1885).
