Abstract The spin echo spectra of Co59 NMR in paramagnetic (Fe1-x Cox) Si and (Ni1-x Cox Si solid solutions have been studied. From the analysis of the concentration dependence of NMR intensities, it is found that a Co atom in the (Fe1-x Cox)_Si system becomes magnetic if it has one Fe atom or more in its nearest neighbor metal sites but otherwise it remains nonmagnetic.
