XSD and UML Representation of CESSDA Metadata Model (CMM) v2.0

XSD and UML Representation of CESSDA Metadata Model (CMM) v2.0

Abstract

This package consists of four files: (1) CMM.xsd The XML Schema file constructed on the basis of CMM_v2.0 (see https://zenodo.org/record/4751455). Although this file can be viewed in a text viewer such as Notepad, it is most usefully viewed in a dedicated XML editing tool such as Oxygen or XMLSpy. (2) CMM.eapx The UML Class file constructed in Enterprise Architect (EA) by importing XSD Types as UML Classes. The UML model is currently complex and contains numerous redundancies which reflect the granularity of components in the originating CMM spreadsheet. The number of classes and relationships will be much reduced as part of the D5 deliverable for June 2022. (3) CMM.xmi This is the model interchange file, exported from EA. This means that the model can be imported into other UML software, such as StarUML or Altova UModel for those without access to Enterprise Architect software (4) CMM.png This is an export of the CMM.eapx class diagram as a PNG image. It is extremely large and the model's complexity in terms of internal relationships means that it does not render well pictorially. It is of limited value but included for the sake of completeness.
