Abstract

AbstractIt has been shown that reactions 5‐substituted 2‐nitrothiophenes with arylacetonitriles in the presence of potassium hydroxide in methanol lead to the formation of the new [2‐(hydroxyimino)‐5‐R‐3(2H)‐thienylidene](aryl)acetonitriles. Under proposed reaction conditions, the formation of thieno[2,3‐c]isoxazole was not the case. J. Heterocyclic Chem., (2011).
