1. The stereospecific hydrogenation of p-nitrophenylacetic acid was run on Raney Ni catalyst to give chiefly the trans isomer of 4-aminocyclohexylacetic acid. The cis and trans isomers were separated as the hydrochlorides. 2. We synthesized the N-phthalyl, N-dichloro(thio)phosphoryl, N-diethylenimido(thio)phosphoryl, and N-tetramethyldiamido(thio)phosphoryl derivatives of cis- and trans-4-aminocyclohexylacetic acid.
