Aspetti terapeutici della displasia ectodermica

Abstract

Riassunto Obiettivi La displasia ectodermica e una patologia congenita derivante dall’alterata interazione tra foglietto ectodermico e foglietto mesodermico in fase embrionale. Tra i distretti piu colpiti, risulta il cavo orale. Scopo del lavoro e presentare una revisione della letteratura internazionale per mettere in luce l’eziologia, le manifestazioni e gli aspetti terapeutici della displasia ectodermica. Materiali e metodi E stata condotta una revisione della letteratura internazionale mediante la banca dati MedLine ( www.ncbi.nim.nih.gov/pub-med ). Le parole chiave utilizzate sono state: “ectodermal dysplasia and therapy” (displasia ectodermica e terapia), “ectodermal dysplasia and orthodontics” (displasia ectodermica e ortodonzia), “ectodermal dysplasia and diagnosis” (displasia ectodermica e diagnosi). Sono stati quindi considerati gli articoli che fornivano informazioni generali sulla patologia in questione e articoli dedicati specificamente al ruolo del trattamento orto-dontico-chirurgico dei problemi indotti dalla displasia ectodermica. Risultati In letteratura esistono vari studi che descrivono l’eziologia di questa patologia, le varie forme e l’epidemiologia, le manifestazioni clini-che, la modalita di diagnosi e le opzioni terapeutiche, differenti a seconda del tempo della diagnosi. Dal momento che si tratta di una patologia genetica, ogni terapia non e risolutiva, ma costituisce solamente un palliativo per migliorare la qualita di vita. Conclusioni E importante intervenire precocemente con un approccio multidisciplinare, specialmente a livello maxillofacciale e orale, per recuperare funzione ed estetica e ripristinare al meglio le multifunzioni stomatognatiche.
