The essential characteristic of the idea of Orthodox culture as the basis of the religious substantiation of V. Zenkovsky's pedagogy is represented through a retrospective analysis. The pedagogical principles are defined and characterized in the context of the idea of Orthodox culture: integrity, freedom, conciliarity. On the basis of these principles, the relationship between the pedagogical and religious-cultural views of the scientist has been established. The principle of integrity determines a person's moral search for cultural values. On the basis of the principle of freedom, the need to educate a free personality and build a system of culture as free creativity is affirmed. By means of the principle of collegiality, the necessity of the churching of a personality as the meaning of the process of education and churching of life for the construction of a system of Orthodox culture has been substantiated.
