Abstract

Este trabajo contribuirá al conocimiento de las aves de la Reserva de la Biósfera "El Cielo" (RBC) de Tamaulipas, mediante la presentación de una lista actualizada de la avifauna de dicha área prioritaria como resultado de las observaciones y colectas mensuales que se realizarán así como de la consulta a colecciones científicas y a fuentes biobliográficas existentes. Se trata de obtener un registro aproximado de 320 especies, pertenecientes a 226 géneros, 54 familias y 19 órdenes. Con el propósito de mejorar la información de las especies de aves de la RBC se anexarán a la lista datos sobre estatus estacional, abundancia y tipo de hábitat en que se presentan. Toda la información obtenida será integrada a un banco de datos que generará una base científica para estudios ecológicos más específicos y para promover nuevas líneas de uso, conservación y manejo de faunas y áreas protegidas. Con los ejemplares colectados se formará una colección ornitológica, la cual esta ubicada en la U.A.M.
