Alexander Fedorovich Lazursky (1874���1917) ��� a brilliant scientist and organizer of science, a talented teacher and popularizer of psychology, lived a short life. At the same time, he did a great deal for the development of psychology, especially in the creation of a proper psychological theory of personality and methods of research adequate to it on a natural scientific basis. He was one of the pioneers of introducing the ideas of scientific psychology into clinical medicine through the clinic of psychiatry and laid the theoretical foundations of psychotherapy through the concept of personality relationships. On the whole, the creative achievements of the brilliant scientistpsychologist and clinician show his outstanding role in creating the foundations of Russian medical psychology. "Classification of Personalities" is the main book of the mature A. F. Lazursky, therefore the inclusion of the monograph in the new edition of his works is fully justified. According to the authoritative testimony of D.A. Leontiev, the concept of A. F. Lazursky is not only the first domestic theory of personality, but, perhaps, the first full-fledged theory of personality in world academic psychology.
