In this study, 16S and ITS primers were used to amplify the bacterial and fungal populations, respectively, in both contaminated and uncontaminated soils that had been planted with willows. The goal was to see how willows and contaminants combined to shape microbial community structure. Uncontaminated or petroleum contaminated soils from the site of a former oil refinery in Quebec.
