MONITORING OF THE RADIATION SITUATION IN THE KARAGANDA REGION TERRITORY

Abstract

The work is devoted to the monitoring of the radiation situation in the Karaganda Region. Radiological research consisted of radiometric measurements of equivalent dose rate to assess the gamma background and determine the content of a number of technogenic and natural radionuclides in the soil. The article presents the results of determining the gamma background in the territory of the Karaganda Region at 100 points, located evenly throughout all areas of the studied region. In this article, we analyzed the activity of potassium-40, thorium-232 and radium-226 radionuclides contained in 30 soil samples. Due to the obtained results, the specific effective activity was calculated for all observation points. The analysis of the results showed that the values of the equivalent dose do not exceed the averaged background values, and in almost all soil samples the specific activity meets the standards and does not exceed.
