Abstract

A coleção de briófitas do Herbário SP é o maior herbário de briófitas do Brasil e atualmente conta com 90.000 amostras de briófitas. A amostragem é razoavelmente representativa de todos os estados e ecossistemas brasileiros e de outros 99 países. O número de exsicatas em briófitas normalmente não corresponde à amostra de uma espécie, pois inúmeras vezes existem várias espécies na mesma exsicata. É o segundo maior herbário dentre aqueles que estão no Brasil em número de tipos de briófitas.
