Caracterización clínico epidemiológica de niños tuneros con sicklemia

Abstract

La anemia drepanocítica es la enfermedad de carácter genético más frecuente en el mundo, fenómeno que también se observa en Las Tunas. Esto constituyó la motivación del presente estudio, de tipo observacional transversal prospectivo; con el objetivo de caracterizar el comportamiento clínico epidemiológico de los niños que presentan esta enfermedad, atendidos en el Hospital Pediátrico Provincial “Mártires de Las Tunas”, durante el período de enero a diciembre de 2012. El universo estuvo formado por los 27 pacientes sicklémicos de Las Tunas y la muestra por 16 infantes atendidos en el referido hospital por presentar crisis sicklémicas y/o alguna infección. La información fue tomada de las historias clínicas de los pacientes, teniendo en cuenta las siguientes variables: edad, sexo, maduración sexual, valoración nutricional, manifestaciones clínicas y factores desencadenantes de las crisis. La mayoría de los pacientes eran mayores de diez años, predominando el sexo femenino, con maduración sexual normal y de constitución delgada. Las crisis más frecuentes fueron las vasooclusivas torácicas, seguida de la crisis vasooclusiva abdominal, siendo mayormente desencadenadas por focos infecciosos
