Abstract

Esta investigación profundiza en el papel del hotel en la sostenibilidad de la ciudad. Los hoteles son más que edificios o complejos que forman parte de las ciudades, estos contribuyen de manera fundamental al desarrollo económico y turístico de su entorno, son una fuente de empleo y formación profesional que también consumen los recursos de ese mismo entorno. Frente al contexto descrito y un cambio climático cada vez más evidente, Naciones Unidas estableció en 2015 unos objetivos comunes para hacer del mundo un entorno sostenible con miras al 2030, por lo que se analizará cómo la cadena hotelera Meliá los contempla en su estrategia El estudio está realizado a través de un análisis cualitativo tanto de las políticas corporativas, sus mensajes en redes sociales y estrategia global de la dirección de Meliá Hoteles a nivel global y local referente a la sostenibilidad de negocio, social y medioambiental. Como conclusión se puede confirmar que Meliá Hoteles genera, transmite y consigue respuesta de los diferentes stakeholders a los que se dirige.
