Biocerâmicas em Endodontia

Authors: Oliveira, Pedro Miguel da Silva;
Abstract

Introduction and goals: Bioceramics include ceramic materials designed specifically for use in medicine and dentistry. The objective of this work is to perform a literature review that demonstrates the evaluation of the physico-chemical properties of bioceramics and its use in endodontics. Radiopacity, flow, pH and calcium ion release were analyzed and compared with other materials used in endodontics. Material and Methods: To perform the literature search engines of the "PubMed" and "SciencDirect" were used. The key words used were: "Bioceramics in Endodontics", "MTA and Bioceramics", "bioceramic sealer", "bioceramic root canal", "endodontics bioceramic", "bioceramic root repair" and "bioceramic root canal sealer" The research was limited to articles published between 2000 and 2014, restricted to a literature review articles, meta-analyzes and randomized clinical trials. Development: The promise Bioceramics Endodontics change as we know it. To verify this new material an exhaustive search of bioceramics on its physico-chemical component and its applicability by comparing testing with other materials used in endodontics was performed. Its creation was thought to remove gaps in a very material known and well accepted by the dental community, the MTA for that comparisons of various properties of the two components in question were made, the bioceramic and the MTA. Conclusion: In this study it was found that the Bioceramics have good properties in your area of use in endodontics. This new material has advantages of use, three-dimensionality, functionality, simplicity and speed of work, and has good working properties, shorter and adjusted prey, alkaline pH and ability to release calcium ions. However, more comparative studies are essential to assess the possibilities of bioceramics.
