Abstract

A hipersensibilidade dentinária é uma condição clinica cada vez mais comum, caracterizada por uma dor aguda de inicio rápido e curta duração, como consequência da exposição dentinária a vários estímulos. A intervenção clínica face à sintomatologia implica o controlo dos factores etiológicos, associado a um aporte de agentes que permitam a obliteração dos túbulos dentinários ou o bloqueio de transmissão do estímulo doloroso. Em caso de insucesso, as opções de tratamento serão gradativamente mais complexas e invasivas. O objetivo desta revisão, foi de rever os dados mais recentes da literatura sobre as diferentes opções de abordagem preventiva/terapêutica da hipersensibilidade dentinária, tendo sido realizada uma pesquisa em bases de dados como a PubMed, Medline e Scielo. Os resultados dos estudos sobre a eficácia dos diferentes agentes/formulações não são consensuais, o que impossibilita a validação de protocolos clínicos de aplicação, estando no entanto comprovados os seus benefícios no controlo da hipersensibilidade dentinária.
