In the past, very similar and illogical names have been used for some of the dermatoses experienced during pregnancy, a situation which has confused diagnosis. The author suggests a simple classification where the dermatoses are organised into four groups: Pemfigoid Gestationis, Polymorphic Eruption of Pregnancy, Prurigo of Pregnancy and Pruritic Folliculitis of Pregnancy. The overview contains a brief description of the etiology, clinical signs, histology, prognosis and therapy for each type of dermatosis.
