An investigation of the topography of the hepatoduodenal zone enabled the author to conclude that different types of operations should be chosen for people with different types of constitution. Double drainage (choledochoduodenal anastomosis) should be used for people with the dolichomorphic type of constitution. For the brachymorphic type of constitution the choledochoduodenal anastomosis only is enough. Papillosphincterotomy is indicated to people of the transitional type of body constitution.
