
Each day, as operating margins continue to shrink, hospitals are confronted with extremely difficult technology acquisition decisions. They seek to ensure that their technology purchases address issues of safety, clinical efficacy, and cost benefit. This paper proposes a structure for developing a strategic technology acquisition plan and identifies the role of nurses and their health care counterparts in the process.
