Effect of malonic acid on the activity of pyruvate dehydrogenase was studied in rat brain hemispheres. Malonate was shown to regulate the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvic acid. The rate of the reaction depended on the concentration of malonic acid as well as on the content of pyruvate dehydrogenase substrates in the experimental samples.
