
Drains commonly used in abdominal surgery are to a large extent either ineffective or damaging. A new drainage system, called Robinson after its inventor has demonstrated its efficacy in broad clinical use in general surgery. Particular features of note are an inseparable drain bag unit, a one-way valve eliminating reflux from the bag, a silicon drain which does not block, as well as other useful attributes. In no case did complications occur.
