
It has been shown that Na-salt of hordecine can be selectively adsorbed on anion exchange resin AN-15 and the antibiotic can be then eluated with 96% ethanol acidified with HCl to bring pH to 3.0--3.5. Spectral analysis and testing of the antibiotic activity have demonstrated that hordecine prepared by the above method and that obtained by paper chromatography are identical.
