
Ultrastructural alterations of adrenocorticocytes are sharply pronounced at the intermediate stage of endotoxin shock. The retrograde embolia by the chromaffine tissue elements of cortical vessels is a qualitatively new feature of the injury, which results in disadaptation and necrosis of adrenocorticocytes.
