
Recent efforts by the federal government (eg, the initiation of a prospective payment system for inpatient Medicare patients) suggest a potentially significant change in health care policy. In response, health care institutions are actively engaging in the development of long-range strategic plans that will enable them to survive in a changing environment. This article explains how radiologic technology can use the process of market-based planning to help the profession now and in the future.
