A large number of methods may be used in the study of fibrinolysis. They are either so-called direct when they demonstrate abnormal lytic activity and indirect when they analyse the results of this activity. In practical terms, the examinations used most widely are the euglobulin lysis test, evaluation of the plasminogenplasmin pair, and estimations of fibrinogen and of its breakdown products.
