
Due to increasing frequency genital herpes has received much attention in medical as well as non-medical literature throughout the Western world. This article concentrates on reviewing the various clinical manifestations of the disease. Different diagnostic methods, prophylactic and therapeutic measures (with the exception of acyclovir) are discussed, as well as transmission and spread of the virus.
