Abstract

Lighter-weight equipment, better groomed trails, and the increasing popularity of ski-skating techniques have introduced a new element to cross-country skiing: speed. Although the overall injury rate remains low, the number of traumatic injuries in cross-country skiers appears to be increasing. Most ski injuries, however, are still caused by overuse and can be easily prevented with proper conditioning.
