Preview Recurrent corneal erosion presents a diagnostic challenge because of its similarity to other common corneal conditions, such as herpetic ulcer. Primary care physicians can make the diagnosis (and earn the gratitude of their patients) if they have a high index of suspicion, take a careful history, and look for objective findings. In this article, the authors focus on the role of the primary care physician in the diagnosis and treatment of post-traumatic recurrent corneal erosions.
