Dentin desensitizing agents: too many options.

Abstract

As the number of dentin desensitizing products has grown, it has become more difficult for the dental clinician to make the correct choice. This literature review seeks to clearly explain the different modes of action of current desensitizing agents, including the clinical trial outcomes of different materials and products in the market. A better understanding of the prevalence, pain physiology, diagnosis, and different methods of management of dentinal hypersensitivity is imperative for proper pain management.
