Extradural hematoma was diagnosed in an infant by cranial ultrasound in the intensive care unit and operated on subsequently without further imaging. Despite deep coma at admission the patient had an excellent outcome. The value of cranial sonography for rapid diagnosis is demonstrated, the limits of this method are discussed.
