Primary progressive aphasias (PPA) is a heterogeneous group of neurodegenerative disorders related to focal degenerations of the brain which are characterized by continuous loss of speech. According to the Classification developed by the International body of experts, 3 main variants of PPA are singled out: agrammatic, logopenic and semantic. This stratification is based on the differences in clinical features of speech defect, neuroimaging and pathomorphological data. The search for treatment strategies is related with putative neurochemical deficit but the results of clinical trials on the efficacy of different drugs remain unequivocal.
